COP30: Collective commitments to real results

Governments and participants reaffirmed their commitment to a just transition, aiming to create a sustainable future for all. Key highlights from the day include:

•  Brazil’s Funding Authority for Studies and Projects (Finep) committed R$460 million in new financing lines at COP30 to support the energy transition
• a panel discussion highlighting the ways in which climate change disproportionately affects marginalized communities, in particular women and girls of African descent
• Brazil’s Special Envoys led dialogues aligning racial equity with human rights, aiming to generate guidelines to build climate solutions based on ethnic-racial equity and human rights
• Indigenous leaders and young people were involved in negotiations on adaptation finance, regenerative agriculture and methane mitigation

Driving Innovation for a Sustainable Future

Finep unveiled three new financing lines totaling R$460 million, reinforcing its role in accelerating the energy transition. The new calls include: Pró-Amazônia 2025, focused on the Amazon region; Collections Recovery and Preservation, supporting archives, libraries, and cultural institutions; and Bioeconomy and Sustainability Investment Funds, investing in Brazilian businesses developing green technologies. While these initiatives are national in scope, their impact could extend globally through technology transfer, international partnerships.

The focus on people-centered climate action underscores COP30’s commitment to a just transition and inclusive sustainability. Events highlighted the leadership of women and girls of African descent and explored how solidarity among marginalized groups can drive climate justice.
