Eversheds Sutherland advises on major renewable energy investment in SyriaLandmark solar and battery projects signal renewed momentum in Syria’s energy market2026 m. rugpjūčio 20 d. Eversheds Sutherland has advised Mohammed Ahmed Al-Harfi Construction Company on a landmark renewable energy investment in Syria, marking an important step in the country’s efforts to rebuild and modernise its power infrastructure. The transaction comprises three Power Purchase Agreements with the Syrian Electricity Company for solar photovoltaic and battery energy storage projects in Widyan Al-Rabie, Rif Dimashq. Together, the projects will deliver 760 MW of solar generation capacity and 1,077 MWh of battery storage, making them among the most significant renewable energy projects announced in Syria to date. Signed on 5 August 2026, the agreements come at a pivotal time for Syria’s energy sector and reflect growing confidence in the country’s renewable energy potential. The projects are expected to support greater grid resilience, expand clean power capacity and help create a platform for further private investment in the sector. The deal is also understood to represent one of the first bankable PPA structures entered into with Syria’s post-sanctions electricity sector, providing a significant precedent for future energy projects in the market. The mandate was led from Eversheds Sutherland’s Amman office, reflecting the strength of the firm’s regional platform and its experience advising on strategic energy projects across the Middle East. Commenting on the transaction, Managing Partner and Head of Commercial – Amman, Ghaleb Al Faraj said: “Being trusted to advise our Saudi client on what is understood to be Syria’s first bankable Power Purchase Agreement structure is a testament to both our client’s vision and the renewed confidence we are seeing in the Syrian energy market. We were proud to support a project that has the potential to unlock investment, strengthen energy infrastructure and contribute to Syria’s energy transition.” Naujausios publikacijosNaujausios naujienos
