Eversheds Sutherland advises ContourGlobal on the sale of Slovakian photovoltaic plantsOctober 29, 2025 Eversheds Sutherland Austria and Eversheds Sutherland Slovakia have successfully advised ContourGlobal Erneuerbare Energie Europa GmbH (Austria) on the sale of 31 photovoltaic plants in Slovakia. The M&A team at Eversheds Sutherland advised on this cross-border transaction from the legal due diligence stage through financial restructuring and contract negotiations to the closing on October 23. ContourGlobal, a KKR company, is an established Independent Power Producer (IPP) focused on developing, acquiring, and operating electricity generation and storage assets across Europe, North and South America, with a presence in Africa and Asia. The company currently manages 5.5 GW of installed capacity across multiple technologies and asset classes, with an additional 800 MW of renewables under construction and nearly 12.6 GW under development. "We are delighted to have successfully advised our clients on this cross-border project in the field of renewable energy. The transaction strengthens our profile in the renewable energy sector and once again demonstrates how efficiently our Eversheds Sutherland teams work together across locations worldwide," said attorney Aurelius Freytag. Frederik Haspel, Global Head of M&A for ContourGlobal commented, "We were pleased to work with Eversheds Sutherland on this transaction involving Slovakia’s largest operating solar PV portfolio — a meaningful milestone in our strategic asset rotation program. This step allows us to further concentrate growth in our core geographies and continue advancing our focus on PV + BESS and onshore wind, accelerating our journey toward becoming a predominantly renewable independent power producer." The M&A deal was led in Austria by Aurelius Freytag, partner, and Sebastian Borer, legal director at Eversheds Sutherland Austria. In Slovakia, Bernhard Hager, managing partner, and Filip Kozon, senior associate at Eversheds Sutherland Slovakia, were responsible for this transaction. The other parties were represented by Schönherr in Slovakia and Kinstellar. Latest Insights
