Johan has extensive experience acting as counsel in court proceedings on behalf of both national and international clients across a range of sectors, including energy, defence, IT, healthcare, facility management and infrastructure.
He is specialized in public procurement disputes, judicial reviews and claims for damages, as well as energy sector related disputes and matters. His practice encompasses advice at all stages of procurement procedures and contracts, and he provides strategic, actionable counsel in complex and high-stakes matters.
Johan also advises on a broad range of energy sector matters, working with sector-leading clients on grid connection contracts, commercial agreements and administrative law. He is regularly involved in matters within the industry sector, including M&A transactions, and has extensive experience from working with most of the commercial standard terms contracts used in Sweden and the Nordics.
He has been involved in many large, high-value and complex energy, construction, maintenance and delivery projects — including substations, power lines, cables and data center connections — in Sweden, the Nordic region and on the European stage.
Johan is a regular speaker at conferences and seminars, lectures at Stockholm University and has written several articles and publications, mainly within the field of public procurement. He is also a co-author of a commentary on the Swedish Public Procurement Act.
Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, Johan worked as an in-house legal counsel at Affärsverket Svenska kraftnät (the Swedish National Grid), a contracting authority/entity within the utilities sector, working mainly on national and international procurements, construction works contracts, consultancy contracts, grid connection contracts, commercial agreements and administrative law. He was previously employed at another major Swedish law firm.
