Alberto Dorrego is Partner of the Public Law Department and member of the Executive Committee at Eversheds Sutherland Madrid office.
Alberto has a degree in law from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (1988), and therefore has more than 30 years' experience as a lawyer. He focuses his practice on Public and Administrative Law. Alberto has extensive experience in the field of public contracts, infrastructure and public service concessions, and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects. He is a recognized specialist in transport, railways and roads, as well as in pharmaceutical and health sector regulation. He has extensive experience in legal proceedings in public law matters before the Contentious-Administrative Courts, the Third Chamber of the Supreme Court and the Constitutional Court.
Alberto has been a member of the corps of lawyers of the General Courts since 1991, currently on leave of absence, having served on various legislative committees of the Congress of Deputies and the Senate. He has been Director General of the Ministry of Justice (2000-2004), Director of Commissions and Deputy Secretary General of the Congress of Deputies (2004-2005).
He is currently a permanent member of the General Codification Commission of the Ministry of Justice (Public Law Section) and Chairman of the Administrative Law Section of the Madrid Bar Association (ICAM). Alberto is also Vice President and responsible for legal affairs of the Chamber of Concessionaries and Companies of Infrastructures, Equipment and Public Services (CCIES), President of the Court of Arbitration for Public Contracts of Spain (TACOP) and Corresponding Member of the Royal Academy of Legislation and Jurisprudence of Spain. He holds the Cross of Honour of the Order of San Raimundo de Peñafort.
Alberto is the author of numerous articles in specialized legal journals, treatises, and monographs in the field of administrative law and public procurement. He is also a regular speaker at business schools, Spanish and foreign universities, think tanks, congresses, conferences, and professional forums specialized in the field of public law.
