As an associate in our insurance litigation department, Jade Werner advises insurers and insureds across all lines of insurance, providing services ranging from policy analysis and coverage advice to the conduct of complex litigation.
Jade represents both insurers and insured clients in a wide range of disputes, with a particular focus on professional negligence and liability claims.
Jade advises insures across multiple lines of insurance on policy response, coverage positions, merits and quantum. Her work spans the full lifecycle of insurance disputes, from early coverage analysis and risk assessment through to active litigation, trial preparation, and resolution. She works closely with insurers and insured clients to develop and execute litigation strategies that are commercially focused and aligned with client objectives.
Jade has assisted on a wide range of insurance related disputes. Her recent experience includes:
- successfully advising and litigating on behalf of an insurer in respect of two inter-related claims for indemnification arising from a professional indemnity insurance policy wherein the insured’s negligence had been excluded due to the inclusion of a COVID-19 exclusion introduced into the policy wording
- advising a number of clients on policy response and coverage considerations arising from insurance policies across all lines of insurance
- LLB (cum laude), 2020-2023
- Admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa, 2026
