Matthew was simultaneously admitted as an attorney and notary of the High Court in 2024. He has a wide base of experience, including litigation and commercial experience, and now specializes in the TMT sector.
He has been involved and has skills in corporate, regulatory, and transactional matters, which include assisting with reviewing and drafting of various TMT and corporate/commercial contracts, SaaS Agreements, black economic empowerment transactions and structuring, mergers and acquisition, competition (anti-trust) matters, financial securities and derivatives advice, conducting legal due diligences, advising on corporate governance and corporate/commercial compliance for both local and international clients.

Matthew has acted on a wide range corporate and commercial matters in tandem with the Johannesburg TMT team. This includes major contracts with blue chip enterprises and multinational companies.
His recent experience includes:
- negotiating, drafting and concluding the acquisition of an insurance broker from a multinational corporation on behalf of our client, which acquisition added another successful insurance broker to our client’s portfolio (2024)
- assisting one of our major multinational technology clients with the disposal of various of its businesses throughout Sub-Sahara Africa - during the period of 2023-2024
- reviewing and advising our client on a SaaS agreement for the optimisation of its support/ticket system, together with the integration of the services into its primary platform
- advising various client on the financial services/financial markets framework in terms of the FAIS and the Markets Acts, as well as providing competition (anti-trust) advice in relation to anticompetitive vertical, horizonal and franchise arrangements
