Eversheds Sutherland advises Boparan on investment in Roberts BakeryOctober 22, 2025 Eversheds Sutherland has advised private investment firm Boparan Private Office (BPO) on its investment in the business and assets of Roberts Bakery. Following the filing of a notice of intention to appoint administrators on 6 October 2025, the investment by BPO has safeguarded more than 430 jobs and secured the future of one of the UK’s most historic bakery brands. A new entity, Roberts Bakery 1887 Limited, has been established to carry out the investment and support the business going forward. Led by restructuring partner Jenna Poulton, Eversheds Sutherland acted as sole legal adviser to BPO, advising on all aspects of pre-packaged business and assets sale of the Roberts Bakery business throughout the transaction. The wider team comprised senior associate Laura Tulley and associate Catherine Liley (Restructuring); partner Mark Hammerton (Employment); principal associate Lisa Highet (Intellectual Property); Partner Nigel Cooke and senior associate Jake Perryman (Corporate); partner Ben Tumelty, and associate Zoe Hyde (Banking). The team provided strategic legal counsel throughout the transaction, enabling a swift and effective rescue of the business.
