His practice includes advising public and private employers, nonprofits, and plan fiduciaries on the design, administration, and compliance of retirement and health and welfare plans. Drawing on his experience serving in house at a large foundation, Chris has significant experience with Section 403(b) and 457(b) plans and with drafting compensation arrangements for nonprofit executives. He regularly negotiates service agreements with health carriers, recordkeepers, PBMs, and other benefits vendors and advises on HIPAA compliance for self-insured health plans. His work also includes providing ERISA training to fiduciary committees and HIPAA compliance training to employees.
Chris also advises clients on executive compensation and employment law matters, including nonqualified deferred compensation, Section 409A compliance, equity and incentive compensation arrangements, employment and separation agreements, leave policies and practices, employment terminations, and discrimination charges. He brings additional depth in benefits litigation, claims administration, and public policy advisory work, including retirement legislation enacted as part of the SECURE Act 2.0.
