Thomas is a Partner in the Commercial and IP practice group at Eversheds Sutherland in Munich and Hamburg.
He specialises in intellectual property (IP) and the associated commercial law interfaces. In particular, he has many years of experience in providing in-court and out-of-court advice and representation in the following areas: Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, Thomas worked in the IP department of an international law firm in Munich and was responsible for the IP division at a leading global fashion company.
- Trademark, design and copyright law, unfair competition
- Proceedings before the German and European Trade Mark Offices (DPMA and EUIPO) as well as the European courts (General Court and Court of Justice) in trademark and design law
- Trade secrets and know-how
- Regulatory legal issues (e.g. product and textile labelling, etc.)
- Drafting, negotiation and disputes relating to intellectual property contracts (licence and franchise agreements, sponsorship and advertising contracts, app development contracts, non-compete agreements, etc.).
Since 2012, he has been a visiting lecturer at Queen Mary University of London, teaching on current issues in the field of IP. He is regularly invited by WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organisation) to speak, particularly on the intersection of sport, fashion and IP. Thomas regularly publishes specialist articles on IP-related topics.

- Thomas studied law at Humboldt University in Berlin and Queen Mary University of London (LL.M. in IP Law), and undertook a research placement at the Institute of Intellectual Property in Tokyo, Japan, whilst pursuing his PhD
- As a research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition, he completed his PhD on the subject of protection against counterfeiting and the overlap of intellectual property rights
