Katariina Kokkonen works as an Associate in our IP, Data & Technology team and assists clients particularly with assignments relating to intellectual property law.
Katariina's core expertise covers a broad range of legal questions concerning trademarks, trade names, domain rights, design rights and copyright. She assists clients in protecting, exploiting and defending intellectual property rights, as well as in drafting and negotiating IP-related agreements. Katariina also specialises in the regulation of marketing and advertising law – in particular environmental advertising, comparative advertising and misleading marketing. She has experience of both domestic and international assignments, in litigation and contractual matters alike, across a wide range of industries.
Before joining Eversheds Sutherland, Katariina worked at Finland's largest and internationally recognised intellectual property expert organisation, and also served as a university trainee at the Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH). These experiences have given her a solid practical understanding of the registration, management and enforcement of intellectual property rights, as well as valuable insight into the authority perspective and the workings of the public sector.
During her studies, Katariina spent time as an exchange student at the University of Bologna in Italy, which has strengthened her understanding of the international operating environment and its particular legal characteristics.
