Disruption knocking on the boardroom’s door: the case of the automotive industry26 juin 2021 Media and entertainment, financial services and retail are known to be industries that have dramatically changed over the past two decades. Digital technologies have been paving the way for new entrants in those industries, disrupting the traditional ways of doing business. When Kodak filed for bankruptcy, it brutally exposed the fact that disruptors are not always linked to competitors but in many cases from evolving technology as well as regulation, market dynamics and customer behaviour. What is the role of the board if the industry is at the verge of being transformed? We’ll explore this question by reflecting on the automotive industry, a sector that is expected to change dramatically over the next decade.
